This Must Be The Place

I finished my exams! I finished my moleskine! Everything is over!!!!!!!!
It's day 20 of my summer holiday and I feel like I've achieved a lot ~ I went to Cornwall by the sea with my friends to go camping, and did lots of drawing in London ~~it has all been lovely. Also, I've listened to so much Bob Dylan, Talking Heads and Television because I found so many of their records in my spare room at home.

Im excited to get ready for sixth form at my school next year and take subjects which I actually enjoy (goodbye maths) ~ I'm taking Art, French, History and English Lit.

This week I spent a whole day in the V and A museum drawing the Italian garden sculptures, and saw the Catherine Goodman and BP portrait award exhibitions at the NPG, all of which are fab. Catherine Goodman's portraits were especially lovely, particularly because of the personality picked out in the people she chose to paint, and her pure technical skill. I then went to the Cass Art shop and then the National Gallery too, and found many many postcards at the gift shop for my bedroom wall.

I also went to the Matisse exhibition at Tate Modern and had fun by Southbank and then me and some cool people went to my house and stuck lots of Matisse cut out shapes onto my wall which looks so fab. I particularly loved seeing the videos of Matisse in his chair cutting out the pictures with a huge pair of scissors, because of how happy he looked.

Later in summer I'm going to go to Scotland and Finland which is super exciting, I also want to read lots of books and finish another sketchbook. Some books on my reading list are rereading Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh, Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, Women in Love by DH Lawrence, On the Road by Jack Kerouac and The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway.

I Wrote A Hit Play

"Jordana Bevan's only major flaws are her sporadic bouts of eczema"
I saw Arcade Fire live at Earl's Court recently and it was so great; they played a Smiths cover ('London') while the keyboard player danced onstage with a holographic box on his head that showed a video of Morrissey's face. Then they played one of my favourite songs, Haiti, and a technicolour video of jungles and rainbow rivers played behind them. The whole thing was really really weird but I had such a fab time.

Then I spent yesterday reading the Wes Anderson Collection, writing lots of penpal letters, reading The Catcher in The Rye and getting super excited because I was sent Peace's new single 'Money' today on vinyl and it was signed by Doug, Harrison, Sam and Dom. <3 peace and luv 4everandever <3

I also rewatched Rushmore, Amelie and Submarine this last week and I just love those films so so much. They have perfect soundtracks and very on-point characters not to mention the script <3 <3

I've been doing lots of art and weird stupid doodles recently although it's all pretty useless but it fills up my time when I should be revising and making art keeps me going so here are some scans~~ and I also made a mini-zine that is sort of about the fabbest internship ever that I am doing at this tip top London art gallery in summer (the gallery girl who works there recognised my Tracey Emin t-shirt on the first day and it was lovely).

Botanical

Looking moody by Dani @ Barbican
Recently, I went on a super cute trip with Dani, Agnes, Gloria and Maddie to the Barbican Centre ~ the Conservatory was open (which is sort-of rare) and it was so lovely walking along the concrete stairways and looking at the huge tropical ferns and cacti. Then we sat in the cafe and although it rained, we walked around by the fountain and wished that we lived in one of the flats so that we could have hanging vines outside our windows.

I went to see the Hockney exhibition: 'The Arrival of Spring' and it totally reconfirmed by strong love for David Hockney's work~the detail of the charcoal and the intense colour in the iPad prints is so lovely. The collection was in a very small Mayfair gallery, so I got to look round alone, which made it even lovelier.

I got some fab new clothes recently from East End Thrift Store, some other shops and eBay (new-found birthday money tucked in a book is da one)~~~
Matisse socks // Matisse post-card // fine art yea
Lol everything from east end thrift store except socks = ebay and shoes = Liberty x Nike (ebay)
Totoro badge from etsy ~ Topshop socks ~ Bandana is stolen from my dad ~
 everything else is east end thrift store
T-shirt onto which I embroidered one of my life drawings~ Boots are Vagabond ~
skirt is east end thrift store
I've been doing lots of embroidery at the moment to practise for sewing onto shirts that I can actually wear~ I loved doing my last art exam module in which I did a mix of embroidery and drawings, so I sort of continued it for myself by gradually embroidering images of my hands onto a French lace christening dress. It looks super pretty hanging on my window with the light streaming through it.

Lastly,
~~~Happy belated Birthday 2 my one and only Morrissey u babe ~~~
True Blue
(Dis is me n my cacti hangin out)
Richard Ayoade and I share the same favourite colour: blue foreverandever.
Recently, I went to a top garden in Cornwall with lots of cacti and huge aloe plants and hanging vines and a little waterfall which was so lovely; there was also a Richard Turrell art installation that consisted of a circular white room with an oval hole in the ceiling that you could stare up at, and it was super cool (white photos below).
Life iz sad tho because I have exams and my film photos all scanned in green which is gross, so I think my scanner is still broken.. </3
Oh but also the most amazing thing happened.. I went to a FREE PEACE GIG on Thursday in Pimlico with a friend which was so so amazing, because it was the third time I have seen them live and I they are getting better and better each time. We queued outside the venue for 2 hours in the grey rain until suddenly the doors opened and we piled into the stifling basement. There was no stage, just microphones on the floor, so I was only a metre away from dearest Harrison and Doug for their hour long set, which contained new gems such as 'Money' and 'World Pleasure', along with classics such as 'Wraith' and 'Bloodshake'. Doug did his little dance while he played and then he momentarily held my hand at the end when I reached out to him, while Harrison crooned to the crowd "baby, ur out of my league". It was the greatest gig I've ever been to and I can't wait to see them in summer again. Peace have become super funky from what their new material sounds like, and I really really really love them.
(You can almost see me reaching for Doug (behind the girl with reddish hair, to the right of Harrison <3)
