This Must Be The Place

I finished my exams! I finished my moleskine! Everything is over!!!!!!!!
It's day 20 of my summer holiday and I feel like I've achieved a lot ~ I went to Cornwall by the sea with my friends to go camping, and did lots of drawing in London ~~it has all been lovely. Also, I've listened to so much Bob Dylan, Talking Heads and Television because I found so many of their records in my spare room at home.

Im excited to get ready for sixth form at my school next year and take subjects which I actually enjoy (goodbye maths) ~ I'm taking Art, French, History and English Lit.

This week I spent a whole day in the V and A museum drawing the Italian garden sculptures, and saw the Catherine Goodman and BP portrait award exhibitions at the NPG, all of which are fab. Catherine Goodman's portraits were especially lovely, particularly because of the personality picked out in the people she chose to paint, and her pure technical skill. I then went to the Cass Art shop and then the National Gallery too, and found many many postcards at the gift shop for my bedroom wall.

I also went to the Matisse exhibition at Tate Modern and had fun by Southbank and then me and some cool people went to my house and stuck lots of Matisse cut out shapes onto my wall which looks so fab. I particularly loved seeing the videos of Matisse in his chair cutting out the pictures with a huge pair of scissors, because of how happy he looked.

Later in summer I'm going to go to Scotland and Finland which is super exciting, I also want to read lots of books and finish another sketchbook. Some books on my reading list are rereading Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh, Mrs Dalloway by Virginia Woolf, Women in Love by DH Lawrence, On the Road by Jack Kerouac and The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway.

Goodbye Weekend

How To Be Pretentious: II Part Selfie
Sunny Spring fun has definitely ~not~ been happening; I have been revising for my scary exams in Cornwall, right by the sea, so I can hear the sea from my bed and it's lovely. However, the lighthouse opposite the cove shines into my room every night and it's very difficult to sleep.
(perfect 4 revision, kids)
My darling scanner has died (I'm in mourning) and I finished my moleskine, so I've had to photograph my sketchbook, sorry 4 poor quality </3
This holiday I took a fun day-trip to Ikea and made a terrarium and irrecoverably fell in love with Mac Demarco and read some Evelyn Waugh books and watched hideous amounts of Netflix. Apart from that, most of my time was spent lying face-down on my bedroom floor, thinking about exams- so all in all v productive and time well spent. (I wna die)

Butterscotch Sundae

I saw The Double (directed by Richard Ayoade) yesterday and it was really good: Richard Ayoade is sucha babe and Submarine (his debut) is my all time favourite film, so The Double had a lot to live up to. It wasn't quite as good, but the cinematography was so fab and the cast was spot on.

I've spent the past week watching a ton of films, drinking tea, not leaving the house and listening to The Velvet Underground on repeat so idek what state that has left me in..
I have exams very very soon so everything is becoming very stressful, but I found some time to draw, so my art coursework is all finished and I can do my own drawings so here are some scans too..

The talented Amber took some fab photos of me in Regents Park a few weeks ago, inspired by Margot Tenenbaum (Royal Tenenbaums)("I'll have a butterscotch sundae I guess..") which was super cute and Springy, because it was lovely and sunny and we walked through daffodils and talked about summer.. it was a splendid affair
Here's one (and you can see the others here)
