A/W13 inspiration

Inspiration for the Autumny/back to school vibe for drawings I might do soon- I'm back at school now which is awfulll because I get so much homework, (hope all you kids can relate)- so basically, what with GCSEs and all I might not be as sincere to my blog as I was in summer. Sorrehhh. </3
Pretty sure I wont be disappointing a lot of you seeing as not many people read this blawg but oh well..
I just discovered Freaks & Geeks- the 90s tv show about an American high school and the Weir family, but it's so unfair that there's only one series and now my unstable and rapid addiction to this show cannot be quenched because I finished the entire series last night. #TVjunkie #helpme

Hope y'all have a good start to school (if that's possible) (its not) and please keep an eye out in one of my next posts for when my summer disposables get developed..
bye kids, stay safe

appreciate: spending days alone

I'm an only child, so I spend a lot of time alone, and with the summer holidays just starting for me, there'll almost definitely be a few days where all my friends are away so I'll have to find something to do on my own, let alone the fact that I will have to entertain myself when I go on holiday with just my parents.
#firstworldproblems #hardlyfe #prayforGeorgie
(Im only joking I dont actually take hashtags seriously)

Anyway, my point is that spending time alone is normally seen as a 'sad' thing to do, for people with no social life, but it can be fun. Spending a day alone means you don't have to compromise on what you do or when you do it. So guyzz ditch yo friends and chill with yoselff. Embrace lonerism like Tame Impala.

Last summer all my lucky friends had gone away on dream holidays to the Caribbean and Ibiza and places like that but I was 'stuck' in London for a few days, so I went on a day trip into Central London to visit art galleries and sit by the Thames and guess who I met at the tube station? The best person ever from my favourite film: Craig Roberts who plays Oliver Tate in Submarine and that, children, is my first point: If I'd gone with someone else, they might have been late so we missed the tube or wanted to go somewhere else.
I spent the rest of my break exploring places in London I'd never been before, like the cool back alleys in Shoreditch, the canal walk from Camden to Maida Vale and the Southbank area and drawing wherever I went.
It's always good to be alone with your thoughts once in a while and go out and see something you've been wanting to go to that none of your friends are interested in.

So pack yourself a bag and take a day trip to an art gallery or a music store and eat dangerous amounts of your favourite food and take your own time, while feeling blissfully un-judged. Or take supplies and a stack of DVDs or CDs and lock yourself in your room making art while watching and listening to new or old favourite films and albums.

this week: clothes and collage

Okay I finally got round to actually taking a photo of my clothes from the thrift shop a few weeks ago, so here they are (and look at my beautiful Meat is Murder t-shirt):
The Fur Coat

 The Pleat Skirt
Please excuse my great number of selfies, I got carried away..
And I bought Girl, Interrupted on DVD so now I can watch it whenever I want which is so perfect, Winona Ryder I love you. #perfecthumanbeing
Im happy because NME magazine came and it had a free Vaccines CD which is perfect so yesterday I played that and the Peace- In Love CD and sat on my bed all day.I also went to the park and walked my dog and picked daisies to make a daisy chain which is in my book now. I've also been doing a ton of collaging/art to fill up all my unused notebooks, so I piled up anything I could use, and I will spend today listening to Vampire Weekend and the Lost in Translation movie soundtrack, and drawing. I'll post some of my doodles soon because all my posts are going to be a bit rushed in the next few weeks due to exams..

Speaking of daisies, who's excited about the new Gatsby film? I AM GOING TONIGHT OH MY GOD I CAN'T WAIT.
But I think personally, Carey Mulligan isn't bitchy enough to play Daisy, she's too kind hearted, but Leo will be brilliant ohmigod wow.

Submarine is my favourite film ever.

the moonrise kingdom vibe

The other day I got a text from a friend 'watch Moonrise Kingdom, its very 'you'.' and seeing as I was looking for an excuse to put off my homework (which I seem to mention in almost every post, sorry) I watched it.
I was a bit put off by the fantasy-like title but I think it's badly chosen, because it makes the film sound a lot more childish than it actually is, like Bridge to Terabithia or something.
It's the cutest story about a boy scout and a girl who live on a small American island in the 60s running away together on an adventure and falling in love. It sounds quite cliche, I know, but it was so good- the outfits and whole feeling of the film right down to what the girl takes in her suitcase and her favourite books was perfect. If you liked 'Submarine' and are a fan of Wes Anderson, American 60s fashion and culture and french music, you will love this. The only category that I fit into is liking Submarine and maybe the fashion side, and I still thought it was awesome, so here are some pictures of it I found on tumblr..
Listen to Le Temps De L'amour by Francoise Hardy
And if the photos don't persuade you, I hope the trailer does:

Then I decided to try and make up an outfit from my wardrobe that went with the whole Moonrise Kingdom vibe, which was cool because it meant I picked out items in my cupboard I haven't worn for ages seeing as I wasn't channeling my own style, so here are the photos: (I feel like binoculars are the new fashion accessory.. can we make this a thing?)
Vintage Tudormatic camera, Antic Hay by Aldous Huxley, notebook, Belgian matches and binoculars.
Decided to get out my old scout shirt too (boots and jeans are Topshop)

Dress-Topshop, Socks-Brora, Shoes-Converse, and binoculars are vintage.
Appreciate the real daisies in my hair, I went out and picked those for you #dedicatedblogger..

bedroom inspiration

So due to my lack of creativity and imagination, I failed to think of a good idea for something to blog about, so here it is, you are being presented with my bedroom. Sorry. Because of all my school work and stuff and the fact I never leave it, it is a total mess. Therefore I have tried to photograph small parts of it that may give you an idea of what it's like. The wall collage is one of my favourite things because it permits me to gaze into Morrissey and Sky Ferreira's faces every time I wake up. So here it is..

 i collect matches/lighters
favourite CDs: (downwards) alt J - An Awesome Wave, Arcade Fire - The Suburbs, Crystal Castles - (III), Echo and the Bunnymen - Best of

Everyone has a dream bedroom, and you've heard me raving about Submarine in one of my last posts.. Oliver Tate, the protagonist of the film's room, happens to be perfect. His type-writer, the clouds painted on his wall, the postcards and posters plastered all over the walls and the attic slanted ceiling all made me fall in love with it. If anyone else has a dream room based on some movie/book/theme comment on this post?

And now because you're all definitely sick of hearing me talk about Submarine, here's more of my room inspiration:

okay we can all safely admit we all want the bedroom from Princess Diaries

The Virgin Suicides
500 Days of Summer (chalkboard wall)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Pretty in Pink

The last few are all from tumblr

Now that I've actually written it all down, I realize that most of my favourite bedrooms are from 80s movies.. Anyway, sorry for the picture-heavy post, I'll try to do more fashion/writing next time.
