i see a mansard roof through the trees

A lot has been going on in the last few weekends, I got all my exam results back which Im relatively happy with, and saw some friends. I went Barclay biking with some friends for the first time in Hyde Park and we surprisingly didn't get lost when we tried to cycle all the way home from there, so now im a pro biker #Boris4lyfe
Also I went to a party and saw some of my old primary school friends and chilled with Rachel and Tom on the heath one night where we formed a gang (#sweg #thuglyfe) and talked about our weird nightmares and fears.
With all this free time seeing as I have no school work to do any more I've been doing more art for my project, and just doodles too.

I've been listening to a ton of Vampire Weekend too (hence the title) they've been one of my favourite bands since I was 11 and my dream is that they would just hurry up and come to London very soon so I can see them live
They're music videos are perfect to so click on:

Feeling Blue

Turkish tile design
Istanbul Harem wall
Stella McCartney S/S 2012
Florence Welch
My new summery outfit is based on my trip to Istanbul in Turkey last summer.  The denim top is from Topshop, the trousers are from a Turkish market and the shoes are a Liberty/Nike collaboration that I got from eBay. I love paisley in blue (it looks disgusting in brown/orange colours) and the geometric designs that are so popular in old Turkish design inspired me, as well as the Stella McCartney collection from last Spring/Summer.

Lost in Translation

The other day I watched Lost in Translation,  which is a movie about ''a neglected wife (Scarlett Johansson) and a failing film star (it's Bill Murray, you have to watch it because he's brilliantt) meeting in Tokyo and sharing an unlikely bond'' -at least, that's how IMDb describes it. It was so cute, I loved it and the ending  was perfect(Although I felt I should have been really unsatisfied with it.)
My favourite scenes were when Scarlett Johansson just sits by her hotel window and looks at the view because it's so amazing looking down at Tokyo from so high up.
The city lights and late night/early morning scenes create a quiet, sleepy atmosphere, and (because I am obsessed with movie soundtracks) all the music they chose for it fit it so perfectly. My new favourite songs from the soundtrack, that I think really sum up the film are:

Just Like Honey - The Jesus and Mary Chain
Alone in Ktoyo - Air
More Than This - Roxy Music

The whole thing felt very muffled and tired, which I really liked because it expressed the mood of the two main characters perfectly, and seeing as it is set in the middle of a very busy city, was greatly contrasted. I literally know nothing about Tokyo and it all seems so foreign and far away, which was exactly what the theme of Lost in Translation is, so I found it really easy to relate to. In conclusion, this is now one of my favourite films and I recommend it to anyone. It was the perfect movie to watch late at night and fall asleep to, (which is how I first watched it) but it's not boring at all, so go watch it.

go away on a summer's day

(title lyrics are from Holiday - Vampire Weekend)
My exams are all finally overrrr (thank godd) and I am so happy. To celebrate, me and my friends Lily and Nell went to Thorpe Park to celebrate, and it was amazing. We had such a fun time and it was the first time I'd actually been on a proper rollercoaster. We went on loads of rides but Stealth was one of my favourites, and although the sun never actually came out, we went on a water ride and got soaked just as it started raining.
My favourite music at the moment is definitely anything by Swim Deep (I AM GOING TO SEE THEM LIVE IN SEPTEMBER I AM SO FUCKING HAPPY) and Splashh because they're such summery bands.
             Vacation - Splashh
             Step - Vampire Weekend
Here are a few photos we took (excuse the embarrassing selfies and my face, thanks)

Running round an abandoned theme park sounds amazing, like the scene in Submarine where Oliver Tate and Jordana stay out all night burning sparklers and roman candles. I've been looking at loads of fairground and theme park pictures and inspiration because I think it's all so pretty and cool.
Submarine

Also, right now I think I am in love with Zachary Robinson, the drummer from Swim Deep. I actually think he's prettier than most girls, he's so gorgeous. Only about 90 days till I'll see him live in London I physically can't wait- just check out dat hairrr and his fashion sense <3

Keaton the Introvert

Lyrics from Small Hands -by Keaton Henson
Since the release of his new album 'Birthdays', I feel it is the time to express my love for Keaton Henson. Poet, illustrator and singer, his albums incorporate all of his skills perfectly and his music is beautiful. He sings quiet, shaky guitar melodies matched with his similar vocals, singing about his own thoughts and memories, and does most of the production himself. A few months ago, there was an exhibition in Soho displaying his drawings and some soundtracks, but I never went (which is one of my biggest regrets). He has only ever performed live about twice, never gives interviews and became an illustrator, selling his work online because he is a total introvert.
Recently I read a rare interview with Loud and Quiet magazine, and rather than answering in person, he sent them a drawing answering all the questions. I love his artwork and style of drawing, and wish I could draw like him:

My 2 favourite songs by him are 'You' from his new album and 'Small Hands' from his first album which is called Dear. Everyone should listen to him because he's perfect.
