Obviously, Doctor, you've never been a 13 year old girl

I've been in Italy for a week so I just got back and realised Google Reader is now obsolete, so I've installed the lovely naked lady on the right of my blog to help you follow me on bloglovin' instead..
Having been obsessed with the film, and because I read an article in Dazed & Confused about it, I read The Virgin Suicides by Jeffrey Eugenides last week and I'd definitely recommend it. The film quotes a lot of text from it, and it's very well written and even more romantic and lovely than the film is-It makes me wish I was blonde and naturally pretty looking and also I wish it was socially acceptable to walk around in a white lacy dress all the time.
Lux Lisbon, the 14 year old of the sisters is so pretty and perfect although she's a bit of a slut, but she's so cool and definitely my favourite girl. Even though she's wearing a really frumpy old frock it still looks beautiful on her and asdgaskl I wish I was Lux without the unhappy ending and strict parents..
I've cleared out my mum's old boxes of clothes looking for a dress like Cecelia's bridesmaid dress (below) but can't find anything, so now whenever I pass a vintage shop I'm hoping to find one that will fit me. #pray4Georgie

I've started melting a pile of candles together and I'm putting the Lisbon girls' prom photo in the middle like Cecelia's shrine in her bedroom (not mentioned in the film) and it looks so cutee I'm in lovee <3
I made the atmosphere quite shadowy and blue to match the film's theme seeing as it's such a haunting, sad story and it contrasts with the yellow flame and girly decoration on the shrine, I also like how the photos came out because of the flames' reflection in the plastic behind.

I also made a collage based on the girls' bedrooms and aesthetic, mainly inspired by Cecelia's religious icons and decoration, using my doodles and polyvore-

summer's here

I am loving summer right now- I've gone swimming in the Hampstead Heath ponds every morning, watched Ghost World for the first time (which made me want to record and draw a lot more), gone on a very successful shopping trip and relaxed in this really strange heatwave that Britain is having. Seriously, I don't understand why it's so hot, it was 5 degrees hotter than Greece yesterday to give you all some perspective #saywhaat
I'm currently working on making a huge playlist for when I go on holiday, and (as you may have already realized) I am a total organizing freak, so I've made lists of everything I'll need to bring with me and buy before because I can't stop myself.

Shoes: new look, Sunglasses: brick lane stall, Jeans: etsy, Camera: car boot sale

I'm always redoing the pictures on my wall so I took some photos to show what it looks like right now. I love having all my favourite images and leaflets stuck up in one place because I can stare at them from my bed when I wake up. The pictures include several Morrissey/Smiths posters, Submarine themed postcards, polaroids and NME pages. It sums up a lot of my interests and obsessions and it feels like my own personal gallery.

lolita

Copying Lolita's hair in the 1997 film- I watched it a few days ago, and I never knew Jeremy Irons was one of the main characters in it, he does all the acting and narrating the text really well.. He does a good 'Im-being-internally-tortured' face. Anyway, I loved the old 1981 Brideshead Revisited series with him in it as Charles Ryder. (the book 'Brideshead Revisited' is also one of my favourites)
Now that I've watched the film, I also sort-of want to read Lolita but what with exams and revision I can't even consider anything right now. Maybe in summer when the holidays start..

Okay short story-I was in Hampstead Heath once (in London) walking my dog, when I walked past this really angry looking man in full tweed and riding boots with a huge moustache and a tweed hat and it took me a full minute to realise it was Jeremy Irons so I was so amazed that I ran all the way back up the path he was on and just stopped right in front of him and almost fell over.. and then he just stared back at me and frowned even more, so I just apologized and backed away. But it was so exciting although I feel like he hated me for no reason.

Dakota crushing

I am in love with Dakota Gordon's photography at the moment, I wish I could take photos like her, there's just something about them, maybe the colour or general effect of the photo, almost like one from a disposable camera, that makes me want to go to Australia and just take photos all day until I can produce work like her's.. They just have so much personality and carelessness and coolness, if that's a word. She chooses such perfect things to photograph too, the fashion and places and everything about them asdhjsjkadls I'm spiralling into random complements now that are boring to read sorry.. anyway I also thought this song complements the photos so listen and scroll:

Good luck with exams for everyone who has them, Bye x

outfit post: english seaside

I'm excited for summer, so my outfit today was inspired by the English seaside, like Brighton pier and Eastbourne and Hastings, and the rock shops and fairgrounds there. Like those postcards of the sea and red and white stripy deck chairs that say 'Wish you were Here'.. Basically that whole vibe.

Clothes: jacket is vintage, shirt from ebay, skirt from topshop, shoes from converse.
My inspiration came from these photos:

my friend and I at the seaside

I made a seaside playlist too:
Let's Go Surfing - The Drums
Wouldn't It Be Nice - The Beach Boys
The Sea - Swim Deep
Lovesick - Peace
Life's A Beach - Django Django
Lust For Life - Girls
Beach Slalom - Bos Angeles

If anyone has any requests for ideas for posts, comment below, thanks for reading!

thrift store exploring

So as you can probably imagine, battling through The East End Thrift Store 'Everything for £1' sale on the hottest Sunday this year so far wasn't such a great experience, but I'm glad I went because I think I found some lovely things, although I was at many points in danger of falling over and being suffocated my the piles of clothes all over the floor.. Once again I find myself buying winter clothes just as summer comes round #sillyGeorgie #canthelpmyself
but I don't even care because I got the nicest brown fur jacket/coat which I intend to wear as soon as it gets even the tiniest bit chilly. Everyone at the sale was so nice, and I got a few complements on my shoes which made me even happier. Loads of customers were just singing along to the music being played and asking others what they'd found so far, it was like a joint treasure hunt. I came away with 5 items (costing £5) which was amazing because almost every vintage store you find now won't have a thing costing below £10, especially in East London. Here are the photos:

sorry for the appalling quality but it was getting dark and my lens was smudged
I also got a dark brown furry jacket that actually fits me! and every item cost a pound so I only spent £4 #perfect

Also, I went round Camden Town and Chalk Farm and went into the awesome vintage store which I find myself wandering into almost weekly, 'episode'. Everything is actually a lot cheaper there than most vintage shops, but I stupidly forgot all my money so all I did was just stare at the clothes and pray for money to appear in my pocket. I found the most beautiful denim shorts which had been reworked with a sort of camel-tweedy turn up and a perfect summery mustard-yellow silk shirt that I COULD HAVE worn with high-waisted dark blue denim shorts and looked amazing but..*sigh* I apologize for the photos because they're taken on my phone and are therefore shit quality..

my fake plants died because i did not remember to water them

This weekend, instead of doing all the essays that I have due on Monday *cries* I went to a car boot sale in London, where I picked up this beautiful blue mohair jumper and chain for only £16. Pros: I love them. Cons: Finally it's started being hot in England so I can't wear this jumper #hardlife #prayforGeorgiana

I also spent aages on the computer wasting time on tumblr (heres my tumblr), follow me and I'll follow back, or message me because I'm always willing to talk

Grimes let me be you.
Im too preoccupied with school work *cries more* to write big text posts right now, but will be posting about more thrift store/vintage clothes soon because I'm planning on going to some stores next week, thank you so much for reading this..
At least, I hope there's someone reading this and im not just talking to myself..
Okay byee xx
