american high school romantisized

So school is all I think about right now because of exams and IM SORRY, I KNOW THAT NONE OF YOU WANT TO HEAR ABOUT THEM. SO I'LL STOP. And because of school taking up so much of my time, I decided to do a post about American High School, and the 80s. Because I live in England, and the only view I have ever had of American high schools is through movies, and I imagine it in a permanent state of summer. I may be completely wrong, but I think it would be pretty cool going to school there. Im going to completely stereotype American schools right now, but I think it would be awesome to go to the prom and watch massive baseball games, like living in a real life version of Grease or Clueless. And we can all admit we've all dreamed of being a cheerleader at least once. God I think I might be sounding really naive right now.. Maybe Im saying the equivalent of what American people think about stereotype English schools: permanently raining, all the girls go to boarding school and play lacrosse and netball like in Wild Child, and speak in polite British accents and drink tea all day. Well I am all in favour of breaking out the pleat-skirts and finding a real vintage letterman jacket. Anyway here are some photos:

FLOAT FOREVER

Thought I'd share some of my doodles and collages that are supposed to be inspiring me for my art project in school that I've just started.. no luck so far on that front.

Anyway recently I've been listening to Swim Deep and Peace because they're really summery bands and I can't wait for summer. I really really reaaally want to go to Latitude 2013, because last year I went with some people and it was amazing, but this year Swim Deep and altJ will be there (not to mention a ton of other great bands) so I've got to go.

My favourite Peace songs at the moment are Float Forever and California Daze (although I have to admit they both sound so similar, I dont even know how the band got away with it) and Honey by Swim Deep is perfect. The music video for Honey is also so cute, and the girl in it is beaautiful, and she gets to dance around and spray paint at the band, so I'm super jealous of her.

Okay so I'm sorry I haven't posted for ages but I've got to start revising for my end of year exams and all that, and I've been given another huge art project to be doing. The project's title is 'FUSION' and to be honest I can't think of a single idea of what to do (the liquid photos above are all I've got). PLEASE PLEASE if anyone has any ideas, comment below? I'll love you forever and be your best friend. 
Anyway, these few days I haven't really done anything of interest, so I have no idea what to blog about and I've decided to talk about some styles that have been cropping up for summer.

1) JELLY SHOES
One tiny part of me thinks these are really cool and I should buy a pair, but then I check myself and push that thought out of my mind, because really? Jelly shoes? Who thought it would be a good idea to bring these back into fashion.. Especially the transparent, glittery ones. I don't want to be really extreme, but crocs spring to mind shortly after I think about these shoes.. We all had a pair when we were about 5 and they were awesome then, but not any more. Especially with socks, not that I don't like those frilly socks everyone's wearing at the moment, but with these shoes? No. I think they can look pretty occasionally, but not in pink or purple and not on me or anyone else except maybe Grimes, who seems to be able to pull them off perfectly.

 2) HOLOGRAPHIC CLOTHING
Although you can go wrong with holographic occasionally, a simple t-shirt, purse, skirt or even shoes, worn while keeping the rest of your outfit relatively plain can really work. I love this pattern, and I have a holographic purse which I carry everything in at the moment from Urban Outfitters (£5) which is so pretty. I think its a cool pattern to be wearing this summer and is quite easy to pull off too.

 3) DUNGAREES
It's quite easy to look very childish in dungarees, but can be avoided depending on what shoes and top you pair them with. For example, a long sleeved black top and black boots can look sick.. I quite like the dungaree-look but I haven't yet ventured out to buy some, because I'm waiting for the perfect ones to appear. All in all, I'm in favor of dungarees, but completely against them if they're long legged. (They always manage to look disgusting).

The other day I got a text from a friend 'watch Moonrise Kingdom, its very 'you'.' and seeing as I was looking for an excuse to put off my homework (which I seem to mention in almost every post, sorry) I watched it. 
I was a bit put off by the fantasy-like title but I think it's badly chosen, because it makes the film sound a lot more childish than it actually is, like Bridge to Terabithia or something.
It's the cutest story about a boy scout and a girl who live on a small American island in the 60s running away together on an adventure and falling in love. It sounds quite cliche, I know, but it was so good- the outfits and whole feeling of the film right down to what the girl takes in her suitcase and her favourite books was perfect. If you liked 'Submarine' and are a fan of Wes Anderson, American 60s fashion and culture and french music, you will love this. The only category that I fit into is liking Submarine and maybe the fashion side, and I still thought it was awesome, so here are some pictures of it I found on tumblr..

Then I decided to try and make up an outfit from my wardrobe that went with the whole Moonrise Kingdom vibe, which was cool because it meant I picked out items in my cupboard I haven't worn for ages seeing as I wasn't channeling my own style, so here are the photos: (I feel like binoculars are the new fashion accessory.. can we make this a thing?)

donnie darko

One of the main reasons for my blog's name 'Where's Frank' is because Donnie Darko is one of my favourite films, and the 6ft tall imaginary rabbit that talks to Donnie in this film is called Frank. Apart from the ending, which I think even the producers and director of this film were confused about, it is such a perfect film. It also has some brilliant one-liners and is very quotable. 
(On the more philosophical, deeper side of the movie, one of the best quotes is "If the sky were to suddenly open up, there would be no law, there would be no rule. There would only be you and your memories.") 
I reckon IMDB has summed it up better than I could so here's what its about:
'A troubled teenager is plagued by visions of a large rabbit that manipulates him to commit a series of crimes, after narrowly escaping a bizarre accident.' 
Seems about right.
Two of my friends told me I looked like Gretchen Ross, Donnie's girlfriend in the movie, which was such a perfect compliment because she's beautiful (in my opinion) so yeah, basically this film comes shortly after Submarine in my top films list

british weather and preparation for summer

My new thing to do when I'm bored is just make up outfits I'm going to wear in summer, so  here's one of them, with me looking deathly pale as usual *sigh*:

Clothes: t shirt from Latitude festival 2012, skirt is Rachel Riley vintage, shoes are white canvas converse.

Over in England, if you don't live here, you won't know that we have all become grey and ill from lack of sunlight, and recently we have finally actually got some sun, so everyone is madly celebrating and going outside in shorts when its only about 12 degrees. Therefore I made a playlist to celebrate the occasion, because we're very serious about weather here in Britain.

So a thing you may have learned about me by now, is that I spend WAYY to much time on the computer. Im serious guys I literally never leave my room, and whenever I look away from my computer I get seriously dizzy and little stars pop up in front of my eyes. Okay maybe it's not that serious, but to sever the close relationship I have with my computer, I decided to do more drawing/writing on paper.. 

I drew this, based on the anonymous poem 'Tea for Two' because I think it pretty much sums up Britain, what with the tea, and the rain *sigh*.
